Altenew | June 2017 Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello and welcome to my blog to join in the June 2017 Release Weblog Hop from Altenew. I would like to share two fun project ideas with you today: a decorated notebook cover and a stamped background on a scrapbook layout. To make the projects, I used three of the new stencil releases along with some Crisp Inks and some sponge daubers to apply the ink (see end of post for details of the supplies used). Let's have a look at the project ideas. Have fun :).

  1. Using layered stencils to decorate the cover of a handmade paper notebook

  2. For this cute little project I used the Layered Dahlia Stencil A + Layered Dahlia Stencil B, the crisp dye inks 'Cotton Candy' and 'Mango Smoothie' and sponge daubers to apply the ink to the stencils on the cover of my latest handmade paper notebook, which is meant for noting down motivational quotes or nice and good things I would like to remind myself of.

How I did it - I started with stencil A. I used washi-tape to secure the stencil on the cover of the notebook and then applied the ink with a sponge dauber. Leaving stencil A attached to the notebook cover, I placed stencil B on top of stencil A, secured it with washi-tape and then used a new sponge dauber to apply the 'Mango Smoothie' ink on top of the 'Cotton Candy' ink. I really like this effect :).

I already decorated six pages in the notebook - below you can see a sneak inside at pages 3 and 4.

  3. Stamping a unique background for your scrapbook layouts and using stencils to create decorative elements

  4. Creating your own background paper for scrapbook layouts is fun and effortless. Just grab a piece of white cardstock, cut it to the size you want to have it and start stamping all over the cardstock to create a nice background pattern. You can use different colours and stamps. Whatever works best for you. Make sure to use a darker colour to highlight some of the stamped words (or images in case you're using any). I always (or most of the time) go with an odd number when it comes to embellishments - see how I used darker ink ('Dark Chocolate') to stamp five of the word images?

How I did it - To make the sun|star and the 'diamond' elements for the layout, I used the Layered Kaleidoscope Stencil A and applied different inks with sponge daubers. Then I cut out the elements with a pair of scissors and glued the elements down with foam pads.
